FROM A STUDENT TO A CADET
MY LIFE IN NCC
“ UNITY AND DISCIPLINE ”
National Cadet Corps is a national youth organization which serves the nation by nurturing
the value of patriotism, discipline, comradeship, sportsmanship, team spirit and selflessness in
the youth our country. At the school level (A Certificate), NCC takes place for a course of 2
years. One of the most memorable experiences of this course is CATC (Combined Annual
Training Camp).
Combined Annual Training Camp is an annual camp for 10 days, where all cadets from their
respective schools and colleges participate. The camp is organized by the particular Unit. The
cadets get a glimpse of military life and discipline.
From my experience I make out that the routine of a cadet in CATC is quite balanced. Enough
time is allotted for yoga/exercise, service and common subjects, drill, sports and cultural
activities. My experience at CATC is filled with a train of learning and memories. There is a
lot one can learn from this 10 day camp.
Leadership is one of the most vital factors for one to lead a successful life ahead. Discipline
adds to the above factor and is indispensible. Team spirit is in itself the motto of NCC which
makes one fit in all spheres of life. It is significant that where ever we go our culture makes an
impact on our personality and lifestyle. Therefore, at CATC or in NCC (in general) one gets a
chance to showcase their cultural talents. At CATC, we get various opportunities to develop
these skills and qualities.
Another thing of notable importance is the time we spend with our course mates. We make
remarkable experiences with our friends, enjoy the time with them and even make new
friends. This teaches us that as much as life may take new twist and turns, it can be made
enjoyable and turned to a lesson with friends and family and indeed it’s the same that
happens in life in defence.
Last but not the least, my experience at CATC surely made some small but significant changes
in my life which would always be reflected by my opinions and personality. NCC is truly a
good platform for students to enhance their skills and qualities.
