WHERE THE SKY AND THE OCEAN LISTEN
There’s something soothing
about the sky and the ocean,
how they make it so easy to speak,
as if they were made
to hold those things I confide in the sky,
I can’t share with anyone else letting my secrets rise,
those heavy truths
that press too hard on my heart
The sky listens,
as if it’s always known
what I’m struggling to say.
When the words get tangled,
I turn to the ocean,
its waves rolling in,
as if whispering
“Go ahead, let it out”
The water takes in my thoughts I told the sky about it
pulls them out to the sea, about the deepest hurts,
until they feel less overwhelming. and the next day,
it cried for hours
rain pouring down
as if the sky itself
couldn’t bear the weight
There’s a quiet comfort
of my words.
in knowing I can tell them anything
the sky and the ocean
and they’ll take it all in with
no judgement,
no questions,
just a deep understanding
that makes it all SRIYAA SHAH
a little easier to bear. GRADE 10
