CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
III) INSPIRING STORIES OF BRILLIANT MINDS AN ACTIVITY TO MEET SCIENTISTS IN AN
INNOVATIVE WAY
Even the world's most celebrated minds didn't have easy or obvious paths. The fact is that no matter how smart
you are, true success requires many things, including hard work and perseverance.
An activity about going through and writing such an inspiring story of the brilliant minds of the world was
conducted by NVN SCHOOL SCIENCE CLUB.A task was given to the students of class XII and all of them came
up with fantastic stories of scientist. In a regular Physics class, club coordinator shared an inspirational story of
MICHAEL FARADAY, his life, his failures, struggle and inventions. He used the recordings from personal
collection and presented in front of the students. The trigger of inspiration worked in a beautiful way and our
students came up with fantastic stories. Now these stories are of several famous personas like ARISTOTLE,
SIR CV RAMAN, VIKRAM SARABHAI, M S SWAMINATHAN, H G KHORANA, H J BHABHA,
SATYENDRANATH BOSE AND SO ON….
The goal of this activity was to better understand the barriers, understand how they succeed, the
challenges, and the decisions learning disabled scientists have encountered while becoming successful
scientists. All the students performed activity with enthusiasm and got inspired by their real life heroes. In
the COVID-19 Pandemic such an activity not only boosted the moral of the students but also
enhanced their love towards Science.
IV) I AM NOT JUST A PAPERWEIGHT : AN ACTIVITY TO DEMONSTRATE PHENOMENA OF
LIGHT. https://youtu.be/3LyBCDOhcCM
Light…! Light is the beautiful channel of the universe… Light does nearly everything known – unknown to us.
We can see this beautiful world due to light. The source of energy on the earth is the Light. Our school science
club coordinator Mr VIKRAMSINGH KIRATSINGH CHAUHAN used a simple paperweight and demonstrated
various phenomena of light. In an online meeting he showed the demonstration and explained various
phenomena in depth: https://youtu.be/3LyBCDOhcCM
All the students enjoyed the whole demonstration thoroughly and understood the concepts in an easy way. The
idea of using this paperweight was itself innovative and it came up in the mind because of unique structure of the
paperweight. It was semi-transparent, cubical in shape. He also explained some other uses of the simple
paperweight as in Measurement, in finding Volume, mass, weight, and density and up thrust experienced in
water, study of Archimedes' principle and so on.
V) AN INNOVATIVE WAY OF CELEBRATING THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF DR. VIKRAM
SARABHAI: FATHER OF INDIAN SPACE PROGRAM AND FOUNDER OF ISRO.
Dr Vikram Sarabhai was a visionary scientist, industrialist and institution-builder who called for the development
of satellite-based remote sensing of natural resources. Our science club remembered the Father of the Indian
th
Space Program on his birth anniversary on 12 August, by celebrating his inspiring work through an online
meeting. Our science club member MS SWARANJEE SINHA OF CLASS XII prepared a power point
presentation and narrated the inspiring life in front of all class XII students. Her research work, the depth,
scientific touch and the details life of Dr VIKRAM SARABHAI spell bound to all. The whole program was shear
display of collaborative efforts.
